This week's 'Inside Africa' on CNN International is hosted by Nkepile Mabuse and comes from Ghana, West Africa.

The programme features special coverage of the CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards, which took place on Saturday 19th July in Accra, plus there's an analysis and focus on where Ghana stands today, 50 years after independence.

With parliamentary and presidential elections scheduled for December 2008, as well as the recent discovery of natural resources such as oil found off its coastline, Ghana is at an interesting stage of its development, and Nkepile examines whether these factors will benefit the country in the long term.

The CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards in Accra last weekend saw 23 finalists from 14 countries across the continent honoured at a ceremony held at The State Banquet Hall and attended by His Excellency J. A. Kufuor, President of the Republic of Ghana. The president presented the overall winner, the African Journalist of the Year, Hopewell Rugoho-Chin'ono, from Zimbabwe with the top accolade. 'Inside Africa' brings viewers all the highlights from the glittering evening plus interviews with some of the winners, including a Kenyan and a Ugandan, as well as the first chance to hear from Hopewell on what the award means to him and his future as a journalist.

In addition, CNN's Zain Verjee interviews President Kufour who discusses his legacy and the challenge facing African leaders.

'Inside Africa' can be seen on CNN International on Saturday 26th July at 1830 CAT.
