A day’s capacity building workshop aimed at upgrading the skills of members of four non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) as well as the Adansi South District AIDS Committee in HIV/AIDS prevention programmes was held at New Edubiase at the weekend.

The organizations are Care for the Helpless, Safe Life for all Foundation, Rescue Action Group and Akrofuom Community for anti-HIV/AIDS Team.

Speaking at the workshop Mr Francis Dorpenyoh, the District Chief Executive, advised the participants to take HIV/AIDS programmes seriously to enable them sensitise the public on the dangers of the virus.

He said since the main mode of transmission of the pandemic was through sex, the youth should resolve to desist from pre-marital sex and sexual promiscuity.

Mr Kusi-Obuadum Brobbey, the Focal Person on HIV/AIDS Programme, said the prevalence rates of the disease in the Adansi South District is 2.5 per cent and that stakeholders should work hard by organizing forums and seminars to sensitise the residents in order to reduce the rate.
