NEW: Ghana Tourist Villas offers an unforgettable holiday and business experience in Accra.
Alhaji Amadu Sorogho, deputy ranking Parliament Select Committee on mining and environment has called on all mining companies to submit their leases for rectification and approval by Parliament without any further delay.
He said presently, there were over 30 leases and agreements that have not been rectified for over 10 years now.
Alhaji Sorogho said these at the 80th annual general meeting of the Ghana Chamber of Mines at Tarkwa over the weekend.
He said without the approval of the leases by Parliament, the companies could be stopped from operating in the country.
Alhaji Sorogho therefore urged the Chamber, to facilitate the process and ensure that the proper things are done.
Mrs. Esther Obeng Dappah, Minister of Lands, Forestry and Mines said though many mining companies were performing creditably in the field of their corporate social responsibilities to their respective communities, others were performing badly.
She said, gestures such as “presenting one goat or two grasscutters” was not enough to serve as alternative livelihood for the communities.
