Other activities included the launch of radio discussion on the theme, television panel discussion on the theme and seminar on “Biosecurity of emerging zoonoses in poultry.”
Jointly presenting the drugs, Ranjeet Jamdar, Ethical Pharmacist and Mike Addoquaye, Marketing Manager both of UNICHEM Ghana Limited, said the health of people is paramount, hence the company’s decision to collaborate with the GVMA.
They said their company, which has been in the pharmaceutical business for 40 years, believes that deworming animals would help improve the health of people.
Receiving the drugs, Dr K.B. Darkwa, president of the Ghana Veterinary Medical Association, stressed the need for farmers to keep their small ruminants healthy and thanked UNICHEM Ghana Limited for the sponsorship.
He said measures which have to be taken to keep these animals healthy, include their vaccination against viral diseases known as PPR (Pets Des Ptites Ruminants) which attacks them especially during the rainy season.
