The Prampram Traditional Council has honoured the National Best Farmer for 2006, Mr Mohammed Tetteh Akpah, and four African-American doctors for projecting the image of the district.

Speaking at a durbar held in their honour at Prampram on Saturday Nene Ahwerebenta II, Mankralo of Prampram, said Mr Akpah had brought fame and honour to the area.

He said the doctors from Atlanta have shown love for the deprived by offering them free medical care for one week.

Mr Akpah, who is into crop farming and livestock rearing, and his wife were presented with kente cloth and the doctors were given beads.

Citations described them as hard working people who have proved that they have the district at heart.

Nene Ahwerebenta appealed to citizens of the Dangme West District to take a cue from Mr Akpah's hard work and branch into ventures in the informal sector.

The leader of the medical team, Dr Paul King, said the medical team treated patients for malaria, diabetes, skin diseases and hypertension.
