Ane, Asafu-Adjei Win Achimota Prez Putter

Jonathan Ane with his trophy Jonathan Ane and Mary Asafu-Adjei won the Achimota Golf Club's annual President Putter Invitational Golf tournament played at the club's course at the weekend.
Ane, the Managing Director of Rhema Systems, returned a fine four under par 68 net for the men's event while Mary Asafu-Adjei, promoter of Ghana Future Ladies, similarly took the ladies action with a three under par 69 net.
Sponsored by the club's president Michael Ezan, to mark his fourth year tenure, the even attracted a huge entry of 150 golfers from Achimota, Tema, Tafo, Celebrity, Bok-Nam Kim and other clubs across the country.
Tony Matthews 69 net, Mike Aggrey 70 net, Felix Addo, Sam Bannerman Wood and Asiedu Offei all with 71 net followed Ane in that order, with Suxie Abaloo Kumassah 73 net, Bea Vetsch-Bempong and Florence Etwi-Barimah and Maria Ben-George all with 76 net apiece trailing Asafu-adjei in the ladies event.
His Excellency G. Amoo Gottfried an ex-diplomat, beat Dr. Myers-Lamptey for the special 9-hole action in the men's category while Madam Getrude Asamoah won the veteran ladies event.
Stephen Klah beat Emos Koblah on sudden death, both returning 70 gross in the professional segment.
In his welcome address, captain of the club Bob Evans thanked all for taking part in the event, and prayed for more of such attendance “to help our golf grow”.
On his part, president of the club Mike Ezan profusely thanked the huge gathering of trustees, captains from various clubs, present and past playmates and all, including H.H. Amoo Gottfried, Willie Bray, Felix Addo, C.C. Adomako, J.S. Addo, Mrs. Omaboe, Nana Atta Nyamekye, and Capt. Kojo Butah, his vice, ex-captain Sarah Mensah, among others for their turnout.
Achimota Golf Club will celebrate its 75th anniversary this year.
