The management of Accra Hearts of Oak has registered players of the club with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust's (SSNIT) Pension Scheme.

Thirty of the club's players and some officials were registered under the Trust's informal programme with an undertaking by the Phobians to ensure that their players remained regular contributors of the scheme.

According to Hearts management member, Frank Nelson Nwokolo, the club obliged SSNIT's request to add Premier League players to its scheme because it fell in line with the welfare package of the club.

SSNIT, as part of its drive to attract many people in the informal sector to the scheme, has initiated a programme to register players who ply their trade with the various premier clubs in the country.

Hearts became the first club to be registered, and SSNIT sources have revealed that clubs like Liberty Professionals and All Blacks have also agreed to be part of the scheme.

Frank Nelson told the Daily Graphic that after the first batch of registration, the club had plans to add another batch to cover all the players registered by the club this season.

He said the first contribution were generally made good from the players' winning bonus in their first match against Sporting Mirren at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

He, however, said that based on the players' consent, subsequent deductions would be made on their monthly salaries. He noted that considering the risk involved in football and the security associated with the scheme it could go a long way to assuage the condition of the players.
