OM studios and Abraham ohene Gyan have probably contibuted to the video department of the music industry than any individual or company in Ghana.
Untill Abraham and his company brought changes to our music video industry, it was nothing to write home about. Take Abraham out of the picture and our best videos today would have been the shoddy once mostly produced from Kumasi.
Over the years Abraham has directed some classic videos including one than brought Ghana it's first kora in relation to videos. He directed some excellent Aids videos ages ago, his works worthy of notice are so many.
Unfortunately, a rather unpleasant pattern is begining to emerge. In the videos mentioned above and in several other videos shot some time ago, one could tell that the director put in so much. These days however, most videos produced from the quaters turn to lose the mark of hard work and that dinct of originality and class which is associated with Abraham and the OM studios.
Of course on any day and any time you are sure to get good pictures and standard quality from OM. However, the power in the concepts and that extra touch which makes the difference seem to be missing.
OM studios and Abraham must recognize that the game is fast changing and daily there are more and more competitors springing up. That extra touch and the zeal and dedication which will typically characterised an MTN advert should be the hallmark of our music videos. It is time to move out of the comfort zone!
