Kuntanase (Ash), March 13, GNA - Kwame Karikari-Boama also called 'Obaka', a 36-year-old Rastafarian at Abono on the shores of Lake Bosomtwi, on Thursday drowned himself in the Lake. Karikari-Boama who operated a drinking bar at Abono had sold his television set, a double deck refrigerator and arranged for the sale of
his sound system before drowning himself. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Michael Amankwa Boateng, Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that at about 1630 hours last Thursday, Samuel Oduro, an opinion leader at Abono informed the police about the incident. He said he went to Abono and with the permission of the chiefs and some local divers retrieved the body of the deceased from the Lake. ASP Boateng said investigations revealed that Karikari-Boama had been complaining about the huge debts he had incurred and the expenditure involved in sending his American wife and child back to the US, which sometimes made him feel like running away from Abono.
He said on that fateful day, Karikari-Boama before drowning himself played table tennis with his friends after which he bade them goodbye but did not tell them exactly where he was going. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for autopsy while investigations continue.
