Akatsi, Feb 28, GNA - A mob made up of traders, drivers and truck pushers last Monday lynched a young man for allegedly snatching a hand bag from a woman trader at the Akatsi main market. The deceased, slim, dark in complexion and believed to be in his mid-20s, was said to have slashed the wrist of man who tried to arrest him.
He scaled the fence wall of the market and was striding away when the mob caught up with him and lynched him. The bag was retrieved with the contents intact.
Mr Joseph Haywoode, Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of Akatsi, confirmed the story and said the body was being kept at the Saint Paul Mortuary at Akatsi, awaiting autopsy and that no arrests have yet been made.
