Communities in Adansi urged to embrace PSI

Dompoase (Ash), Oct.13, GNA - Communities in the Adansi North District have been urged to embrace the President's Special Initiative (PSIs) on cassava and oil palm to help reduce unemployment among the youth in the area.

Mr Peter Kwabena Ameyaw, District Chief Executive who made the call, noted that the PSIs were potential job creation opportunities that must be embraced by the youth who were not in any gainful employment. The District Chief Executive was on his maiden tour of communities in the district to find out developmental problems facing the people, visited Dompoase, Old Edubiase and Medoma. Mr Ameyaw, addressing separate durbars at the communities, explained the financial benefits that could be derived from the PSI. The District Chief Executive announced that many oil palm seedlings were being nursed at Akwansrem and urged the people to take advantage and venture into oil palm cultivation.

He said being a new district, the assembly had to facilitate its development agenda with the co-operation and support of the people. Mr Ameyaw therefore, asked the communities to honour their tax obligations for effective development in infrastructure such as roads, provision of potable water and other basic social amenities that required the availability of funds.

He advised the people to develop interest in communal labour and initiate self-help development projects to compliment the assembly's development programme.

Mr Ameyaw stressed on the need for the people to unite to develop the district, adding "let us unite and develop this new district." He however, expressed concern about the absence of Chiefs at Dompoase, Akokerri, Ayaase, Bodwesngo and appealed to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11 to help solve all chieftaincy disputes in these areas.
