Wa, Aug.31, GNA - Mr Ambrose Dery, Upper West Regional Minister on Wednesday called on District Chief Executives to serve with humility. He made the call when administering the Oaths of Allegiance, Office and Secrecy to five District Chief Executives in the Region at Wa. They are Mr Mac Adams Banda, Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Mr George Sulley, Lawra District Chief Executive, Wing Commander Eric Dakura (Rtd), Nadowli District Chief Executive, Mr Justin B. Dakura, Jirapa/Lambussie District Chief Executive and Mr Daniel Dari, Wa West District Chief Executive.

Mr Dery advised the Chief Executives to serve the people but not become despots in line with the Government's commitment to democracy and the rule of law.

He warned them against meddling in chieftaincy disputes because any Chief Executive found meddling in chieftaincy disputes would not be spared.

Mr Dery asked the DCE's to work in unity and co-operate with the assemblies to realize the objectives of the Government. He said women formed the cornerstone of development in the region therefore, the DCE's should endeavour to empower women by incorporating programmes on gender issues in activities of the assemblies. Mr Banda, on behalf of his colleagues gave the assurance that they would live up to their responsibilities by working diligently and effectively to realize the Government's vision on development. He appealed to chiefs in the region to give them the needed support in their activities for the development of the districts. 31 Aug.05
