2 Arrested Over Cabbie Murder

Two men have been arrested and detained by the police in Kumasi over the sickening murder of a taxi driver.

Kwaku Poku alias, 'Junior,' herbalist, and Kwadwo Kontoh, reportedly killed Matthew Nkrumah and burnt his body before fleeing with his car.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Yussif Tanko, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, told journalists that the incident happened on October 26 last year.

They had engaged the services of the deceased to transport them in his Daewoo Matrix taxi from Tanoso in Kumasi to Bokankye in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District.

Midway through the journey, they stabbed him several times in the rib with a knife and hit the head with a concrete block until he dropped dead.

ASP Tanko said the duo then set the lifeless body on fire and fled with his car.

The car has since been recovered, he said, adding that they had already admitted the offence.
