Mr. President, Don't We Deserve A Little Respect?

President John Dramani Mahama

President John Mahama has been touring the Volta Region and visited Kpando today. While addressing us in Kpando, I was listening with apt attention to hear the messages His excellency had for us. I must say, that you did very well with communicating and spinning around the issues that really mattered to us. What you did very well was to engage in an "exercise of mediocrity" (to borrow your words).

I was surprised when I heard you mention roads, school buildings, and water you turned on as an achievement while Campaigning for you and your Boss (Late Prof. Mills) in 2008 you made us tell the whole world that those were mediocre achievements. Well, I want to believe that it was politics as usual then and it is politics again this time round. But trust me, I will not vote for anybody who isn't bold enough to man up to his own words, because he cannot be trusted. Mr. President, you have lost my trust as an advent admirer.

But Sir, as a person brought up in an African home with the values, there was something missing in all you said to the gathering. I do not know why you refused to apologise to the People of Kpando, the Volta Region and Ghana at large for lying about the state of the Kpando township roads. Or have you forgotten what you said? Well I won't be surprised because you have stated in the past that "Ghanaians have short memory", and you are a Ghanaian.

A quick reminder, on page 34 of the 2016 State of the Nation's Address delivered to Parliament, you mentioned the Kpando township roads as having been constructed by your administration. So I am only asking that how come a road you claimed has been constructed is again being awarded for contract to First Sky Company? As a man popularly acclaimed as respectful by your party fanatics, I expected to hear you show that respect to my people by apologising for erring and deceiving the world about the state of the roads, but all you did was to praise yourself for doing everything and telling them what to think of you and your achievements. Do you really respect those of us in the Volta Region or you are just disrespectful, which is contrary to the accolades given you?

Mr. President, why in God's name would you lose for humbly apologizing to the good people of the Volta who gave you over 80% of their votes to make you president?

Gradually you are revealing your real self to us and we now know that John Mahama isn't the president we wanted. If you can lie to the world and not have the courage to apologize to us, then we are sorry, you are too big to serve us.
