His disqualification however generated uproar in the constituency mostly among people of his traditional Area( Some) who described the action by the party as unjustified.

After several protests and legal battles, Jim Morti subsequently announced his decision to contest as an independent candidate.

But addressing his followers at his campaign launch this evening in Aflao, Jim Morti says he still belongs to the party despite what he described as unfair treatment meted to him.

“Comrades, ladies and gentlemen let me emphasize that, some self-seeking individuals have hijacked our one and only party and used malicious, diabolical, mischievous and Machiavellian and unsubstantiated allegations and tactics to disqualify me from contesting during the primaries .Comrades, some people are claiming that my decision to contest as an independent candidate is a fall out from the great umbrella tradition but I want to debunk such claims and to state that I still remain and will forever remain a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)”.

He however said, his resolve to go independent is a response to to calls from majority of the residents who plead with him to restore their hope.

He said although the governing NDC is making much efforts to improve the lives of his people, the performance of the current crop of leaders in the area leaves much to be desired.

“My brothers and sisters, President Mahama is the president for us all and he is doing his very best to better the lives of Ghanaians, but how can he satisfy our true needs if there are clear evidences of selfish, arrogant and empty propagandist leadership on the part of people who claim they represent the constituency but do not care about our true needs”.

He outlined some of the projects he initiated in the area and call on the people to support him in his bid to further his development agenda in the area.

“Some of these projects include: the construction of a four unit class room block with headmaster's office at Anoenu basic school, the construction of a three unit classroom block with a computer laboratory at Atiaklorbor basic school ,the construction of a foot bridge at Akame- Avetekofe, the donation of 7 packets of aluminum roofing-sheets to Kpoglu basic school, the donation of 5 packets of roofing-sheets to Dornormadi basic school, all in an attempt to support the schools re-roof their classrooms after they were destroyed during a rain storm”.
