Akua Donkor files nomination to contest election

Accra, Sept. 30, GNA - The Founder and presidential nominee of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) Madam Akua Donkor on Thursday, filed her nomination papers at the Electoral Commission's (EC) to contest the December 7 election.

However, Mrs Charlotte Osei, the Chairperson of the EC, did not accept her filing fee of GHC 50,000, pending the outcome of an injunction filed at the court by Progressive People's Party.

Madam Akua Donkor was accompanied by her husband, Mr Agyei Frimpong and other leading members of the GFP.

Addressing the media, Mr Frimpong appealed to Ghanaians to give his wife a chance to govern the affairs of the nation.

Eight other nominees who have filed their nomination papers with the EC include President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party.

Others are Dr Nana Agyenim Boateng of the United Front Party, Mr Kofi Akpaloo of the Independent People's Party.

The rest are Akwasi Addai Odike of the United Progressive Party, Mr Hassan Ayariga of the All People's Party, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings of the National Democratic Party and Mr Kwabena Agyei of the Reformed Patriotic Democrats.
