Take campaign messages to electorates out of Accra - Chief of Staff jabs NPP

The Chief of Staff has taken a swipe at the New Patriotic Party for organizing series of press conferences aimed at attacking the Mahama-led government.

According to Julius Debrah, it would be more prudent for the main opposition party to travel out of their comfort zone and send their campaign messages to the electorates outside Accra if they really want to win the upcoming elections.

He said this over the weekend when he joined some party bigwigs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and supporters in the Akatsi South Constituency to kick start campaign activities towards the general elections.

"Some people say they want to farm, they want to harvest a lot of crops but you know what they are doing? Instead of going to the land to plant, they are all sited in Accra and saying on radio 'we want to farm, we want to harvest," he said.

"...they [New Patriotic Party] are organizing press conferences seven times in a day describing the farm they want to farm, when you do that, are the crop going to grow, will you harvest anything at the end, you probably will not get anything and you may be forced to go to court trying to look for something you didn't plant," he added.

He encouraged the NPP "to go to the people and explain to them what you intend doing for them" if they really want to win power.

He also reaffirmed that President Mahama would win the upcoming elections adding the numerous development projects scattered across the country would convince the electorates to renew his mandate.

"I am here today to reaffirm our winning possibilities to the people of Akatsi, I want you to know that if you travel from north, south, east and west of this country everybody is saying that President Mahama has started well and we have to give him the next term for him to continue the good deeds he is doing," he said.

The NDC is most dominant in the Akatsi South Constituency with Edward Doe Adjaho representing the constituents from 1992 until his appointment as the Speaker of Parliament in 2013.

Bernard Ahiaffor who contested on the NDC ticket and won the by-elections in 2013 is seeking for another term to continue representing Akatsi South constituents in parliament.

"I will sacrifice myself to ensure our constituency is developed, I have the backing from the presidency, bigwigs in the NDC and the traditional authority, so be rest assured that I will deliver on my promise," Mr Ahiafor emphasised.

He attested that "you have seen what I have been able to do within the last three years and I am ready to do more than that when you vote for me and President Mahama on December 7."

The Divisional Chief in Avenor Traditional Area, Amegavi-So who spoke on behalf of Chiefs in the area joined the league of chiefs who have endorsed the NDC government based on the rate of development he has witnessed in his area.

"We the Chiefs and people of Avenor traditional area are most grateful to the government and we wish to assure you that we are solidly behind the government and our MP. We pray he remains in power to continue their development projects in the country and Avenor," he said.

Some members of the party on hand to lend their support including NDC Deputy Secretary, Koku Anyidoho, former Transport Minister, Dzifa Ativor and the Volta Regional Organiser, Henry Ametefe took turns to speak to the enthused crowd at Akatsi, charging them vote massively for the NDC in the elections.

A campaign task force team was outdoored to spearhead campaign activities in the Constituency to ensure the NDC records a wide vote margin above 40,000 in the polls.
