Tamale, Sept. 22, GNA - Mr Alhassan Suhuyini, Convention People's Party (CPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Sagnerigu in Election 2012, has threatened legal action against the Party for imposing a candidate on the people.

He said the CPP had put aside the Party's Constitution and imposed Madam Issah Zeliya, an Assembly Woman for the Sagnerigu Electoral area to contest the 2016 elections on the CPP ticket, which he described as unfair and unconstitutional.

He said that the Party's Executives in Sagnarigu, have stabbed him in the back by nominating Madam Zelia as Parliamentary candidate.

'I will use all legal means including the court for the right thing to be done,' he warned.

Mr Suhuyini who was addressing a news conference in Tamale said the nomination of Madam Zeliya was illegal and unconstitutional because 'Currently she is a card bearing member of the NDC in the constituency but not a card bearing member of the CPP'.

He said Madam Zeliya participated and voted in the NDC parliamentary primary in November last year in Sagnarigu and questioned why the CPP should impose her on the constituents.

He said Madam Zeliya is also an Assembly Woman of Sagnarigu electoral area and has since not resigned from her position, which makes her unqualified.

Mr Suhuyini said the Party Executives in Sagnarigu have elected Madam Zeliya without any consultations or pass through due process.

He said he has been a devoted and committed CPP member since 1996.

Madam Zeliya, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that she used to be a card bearing member of the ruling NDC but she resigned to join the CPP.

'Politics is about where your service is needed and where you would be in a better position to serve your people' she said.

She said the CPP monitored her activities as an Assembly woman and came in for her to contest.
