Abetifi (E/R), Aug 31, GNA - Kwahu-East has inaugurated an Inter-Party Dialogue Committee to deepen the interaction among the political parties to prevent conflict ahead of the December polls.

It was put together by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and chaired by Nana Simpeim Owuradu II, the Krontihene of Abene.

Speaking at the inauguration of the committee in Abetifi, Nana Antwi Siaw, the District Chief Executive (DCE), underlined the need for everybody to be responsible in their conduct.

They should refuse to do anything likely to create needless tension and confusion.

He asked that the people pulled together to safeguard the peace, pointing out that, there could not be meaningful socio-economic progress amid chaos.

He used the occasion to counsel the youth not to allow anybody to hide behind them to threaten the peace and stability of the area.

Mrs. Abigail Nkansah, the NCCE District Director, expressed confidence that the December polls would pass off peacefully.

Chiefs, religious leaders, the security agencies, representatives of the political parties and assembly members attended the ceremony.
