Street Sense Organisation (SSO), a non-governmental road safety advocacy organisation in Accra in partnership with the Young People's Guild (YPG) of the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Pankrono Estate, Kumasi, has organised a road safety campaign walk on some principal streets in Kumasi.

The walk which formed part of the 18th anniversary celebration of the YPG started from the church premises through the streets of Pankrono, Tafo, Pankrono Estate and ended at the church premises with aerobics.

During the walk, participants distributed key holders and stickers on road safety and interacted with motorists and pedestrians to observe safety on the road to reduce accidents. Participants also carried placards with some inscriptions such as “don't drive drunk”, “no careless overtaking”, and “avoid speeding” among others.

The Minister-in-Charge of the Calvary Congregation, Rev. Mrs. Elizabeth Bekoe Omenako who participated in the exercise called for effective collaboration among all road safety stakeholders to create awareness to help reduce road accidents.

Rev. Mrs. Omenako expressed appreciation to the management of SSO for collaborating with the church, and also stressed the need for regular exercise to maintaining healthy living.

The Director of Operations of SSO, Yao Doe-Tamakloe reiterated the organisation’s commitment to continuous road safety awareness campaigns to reduce accidents in the country.

He bemoaned the spate of road accidents in the country, and called on all road users to observe traffic regulations to promote safety on the roads.
