Boxing My Brother Did Not Talk To Me For Seven Years, Says Paul Dogbe
AUG 29, 2016 LISTEN

Paul Dogbe - Father, trainer, and inspirer of newly crowned WBC Junior featherweight champion (Isaac Dogbe) has said that his brother did not talk to him for seven years due to his decision to allow his son to become a professional boxer.

Speaking to Joe Debrah on Accra based Happy [98.9] FM on Sunday, August 28, Paul admitted that it was a very difficult decision to take – Allowing ‘The Royal Strom’ to chose boxing as a career.

“Boxing is a serious business where you can hurt at any moment. I had to stop everything that I was doing in other to put Isaac into shape”

“My family didn’t like the idea, my brother didn’t talk to me for seven years just because of that decision I took,” Paul Dogbe said.

Paul Dogbe applauded his son for beaten a world class boxer and a counter puncher like Neil John Tabanao at the Police Officer’s Social and Fitness Center in Accra, Cantonment on Friday, August 26, 2016.

“Isaac, though a featherweight boxer has a punch of a heavyweight boxer. He missed a heavy left punch in the round 2 and that affected his shoulder. He complained to me, so I asked him if I should stop the fight, but he said no and because of that he had to endure the rest of the rounds using his left hand,” Paul noted.

“We wanted to prove a point by giving Tabanao a knockout, but all the same we weren’t disappointed at the results. If his hands were alright, we would have finished the job earlier,” Paul Dogbe added.

At the end of epic 12 rounds, the three judges scored the bout; 120-109, 117-113, and 119-110 in favour of Isaac ‘The Royal Storm’ Dogbe.
