Accra, Aug. 25, GNA - The members of the International God's Way Church, trooped the Police Headquarters premises in their numbers to demand the release of their Founder and Leader, Bishop Daniel Obinim, who is also known as 'Angel'.

Bishop Obinim was detained at the Nima Police Station for allegedly defrauding a businessman of GH₵ 11.6 million as well as flogging two of his church members under his care.

He was brought to the Police Headquarters for interrogation.

The frustrated members, who gathered at the entrance of the Police Headquarters, chanted words such as 'no Obofo, no vote,' 'no Obinim, no vote,' Angel nie, Obinim nie,'and 'we want Angel.'

The police personnel prevented the church members from entering the premises.

The supporters hooted at the police officers for not allowing them to see Bishop Obinim: 'In order for peace to prevail, our Bishop has to be released,' and exhibited a writing which read: 'Proud daddy, we love you.'

The situation resulted in heavy vehicular traffic on the road leading to the Kwame Nkrumah Circle as the church members took over the streets.

The Police, where compelled to use water canon to disperse them.

Mrs Stella Mensah, a church member said she had come to the Police Headquarters to cause the immediate release of their Angel because he has given her the fruit of the womb and a husband.

Members prevented the media from seeing Mrs Florence Obinim, the wife of Bishop Obinim and a gospel artiste.
