The Bolin Lana Mahamadu Abdulai regent of the Abudu Royal Gate of Dagbon has thanked the president for donating a brand new Toyota Fortuner to his palace.
According to him, the president promised the palace a vehicle and has fulfilled the promise he made to the palace.
The regent received a brand new Toyota Fortuner with registration number GN 7732-16 which was said to have been presented to the Bolin-Lana through Mohammed Samasama and one Alhaji Sisu on behalf of the President in Yendi.
The deputy spokesperson for the Regent, Abdullah Sadik Abubakari told DAILY GUIDE that the rumor that the president has given the vehicle to them to convince the Abudu Family to vote for him come December 7 was not true.
He indicated that Chiefs in the Northern Region have benefited from the president and did not understand why the Bolin Lana's should be a different case.
The Bolin Lana urged the president to commit himself to the performance of the funeral rites of the two late Overlords of Dagbon, Mahamadu Abdulai IV and Yakubu Andani II.
He advised the president to continue with his plans to bring peace to Dagbon and assured him of his support.
The presentation of the Toyota Fortuner to the Bolin-Lana has sparked different reactions from both the Abudu and Andani circles.
Whilst those from the Abudu Family saw it as an attempt by the President to obtain votes from them, others thought it was a reconciliatory move by President Mahama.
Some members of the Andani Royal Gate, however, thought it was a betrayal for the President to now become friends with members of the Abudu Gate when they (Andanis), were the ones who had always voted for the NDC in elections.
