Deleted NHIS registrants must vow not to vote for NPP - Akatsi North DCE

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akatsi North has urged the over 56,000 voters whose names were deleted from the voters register to vow never to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

James Gunu went on to caution them against allowing their family members and friends vote for the main opposition party.

He was speaking at Ave Afiadenyigba in an interaction with the Muslim community on the deletion of over 56,000 voters from the electoral roll.

The Supreme Court ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) in July to "immediately" delete from the register names of some 56,739 persons it said registered with National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards.

According to him, the NPP have still not come to terms with the fact that those who used the NHIS to register are Ghanaians and will do anything to make sure that they frustrate them should they win 2016 election.

“In any unlikely event that they win the elections, they will bring the aliens compliance order and chase the [foreigners] out of the country. I want to appeal to those people who went through all the inconveniencies to have their names back in the register that they should never vote for the NPP," he said.

According to him the only way to have peace of mind is to give the National Democratic Congress (NDC)-led John Mahama another chance to continue with the numerous developmental projects.

“I want to take this opportunity to urge all those who by the grace of God and the order given by the Supreme Court to get their names back on the voters register to vow in their lives never to vote for the NPP in this election because if they do so it will definitely be a bad result for them,” he stressed.

Mr Gunu maintained that the NPP is of the view that the over 56,000 names deleted from the voters register all voted for the ruling NDC which in his view led to the party sending the electoral body to court.

The DCE explained that the deletion of those names have gravely affected the individuals saying that the NPP is ignorant of the fact that out of the names deleted some voted for the NPP.

He encouraged Ghanaians especially those who voted for the NPP in the 2012 elections to all rally behind the NDC to ensure it retains the seat in the upcoming December polls.
