AUG 23, 2016 LISTEN

Former First Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Fred Oware says the Party is poised to make major in-roads in the Volta Region, the perceived world bank of its major political opponent, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, the NPP will significantly up its votes and secure some parliamentary seats in the Region.

Mr. Oware said this after undertaking a three (3) day working tour of the Volta Region to access the NPP’s chances in the Region, and also ascertain from the Party’s regional and constituency executives, some challenges they are encountering in the discharge of their duties, and how they can be assisted.

“After three days tour of several parts of the Volta region, I am absolutely certain of NPP’s chances in the region this time. I have met ordinary people who walk on the street, chiefs and opinion leaders, corporate and religious leaders, and have come out with the singular understanding that the people of the region have now accepted the values and message of the Flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and wish to see him as the President and the answer to our economic difficulties”, he said.

According to Mr. Fred Oware, the open voluntarism of majority of the youth and women, to work for change in the various communities he visited, further convinces him that the Volta Region is disappointed in the Performance of H.E. President John Mahama and are yearning for an NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo.

He expressed his satisfaction at the focus and hard work of the Party’s Regional and Constituency Executives to ensure victory for Nana Akufo-Addo, and the NPP. “Our Regional and Constituency executives down to the polling stations are all keeping their eyes on the ball. The party is stronger and more visible in the Region, and members feel more inclusive”, he said.

Endorsing Nana Akufo-Addo’s “One Factory, One District” policy, Mr. Oware said the Volta Region has several business opportunities which when well harnessed will spur an economic revolution for all social classes in the Region, and the nation as a whole. He said the policy if implemented under the NPP, will go a long way to address the dire youth unemployment situation facing the country by creating more jobs and so enhance the livelihood of the people.

Mr. Oware also took the time to visit some of the district offices of the Electoral Commission to observe the continuous registration exercise and assist in addressing whatever challenges potential registrants were going through. He used the opportunity to urge especially the youth to take their civic duties seriously and take part in the electoral process, advising, that the decision they make come December 7th would be one that will determine the shape of their lives forever.

Mr. Oware assured the Party’s Regional and Constituency executives of further visits to the Region, as well as engaging with the leadership of the Party, to affirm Constituency-specific strategies, to push the party’s agenda. “I am persuaded that we must achieve our target in the region to be able to win the general elections. We need to assure all the peoples of the region that their interests are our interests and the time is now to change the mandate”, he said.
