A group calling itself concern youth of Ga-Dangme have petitioned the presidency over the continuous stay in office of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs Registrar, Harry Anthony Attipoe.

According to the group, the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs Registrar was transferred to the Volta Region somewhere in March this year but has since failed to report to his base.

In a petition addressed to the President and signed by about 500 youth from various divisional and traditional councils within the Greater Accra Region, the group sort to find out why the registrar has failed to go to his newly transferred region.

The youth in the petition to the president noted that, if the registrar is not made to leave for his newly transferred region, subsequent occupants of his office would equally oppose to their transfers in future.

The spokesperson of the group, Emmanuel Okoe Thomy on behalf of the about five hundred petitioners said "Attipoe must be compelled to leave the Greater Accra Region because he is not above the law that employed him as a civil servant"

The group however has given the presidency a two week ultimatum to answer their petition and address the challenges thereof or they would stage a massive demonstration.

"We will demonstrate seriously if we are not provided with answers as to why Attipoe is still at post despite a clearly worded letter from the chieftancy ministry transferring him to the Volta Region. Is Attipoe the only registrar in Ghana? " they questioned

The group also questioned why the registrar is opposing his transfer since March and questioned what his motive is.

"Why is Attipoe hesitant to leave to the Volta Region? What is he hiding for which he does not want to leave the Greater Accra Region?"

The group is however expected to hold a press conference in the coming days regarding the Attipoe transfer saga.

Meanwhile when contacted on the subject matter, Harry Attipoe noted that a petition sent to the President by some chiefs has yielded positive response hence his continuous stay in the office of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.

He said "I have been given an assurance at the Presidency that my transfer would be reversed hence my continuous stay in office. I am only waiting for official communication from the Ministry of Chieftaincy to announce that my transfer has been reversed" he stated

Mr. Attipoe said the Chieftaincy institution does not lie in the hands of the youth so they can go ahead with their intended actions.
