Radio repairer charged with murder

Techiman (B/A), Jan. 30, GNA - The Techiman Circuit Court has remanded a radio repairer, Wahabu Opoku, 35 to reappear on February 2 on a murder charge.

Opuku whose plea was not taken is standing trail with Kwabena M.B., now at large for conspiring to wit murder and murdering one Shaibu son of the Fulani Chief of the Sissala Community in the Techiman Municipality.

Chief Inspector Sampson Y.Jebuni told the court presided over by Mr. Justice Erasmus Gyinae that, on January 26 this year at about 9.30 pm, the deceased father was in the house when the suspects brought his son Shaibu to the house on their shoulders.

Chief Inspector Jebuni said when the deceased father confronted them why the son was being held in that manner, the accused persons said he had taken in some drinks.

He said the deceased father not satisfied with the explanation that the son was drunk detected that he was rather dead through a fowl play.

They abandoned the deceased and begun to move away and upon thorough examination the father noted that there was swollen neck and suspected that he had been strangled.

Chief Inspector Jebuni further told the court that, the family of the deceased raised an alarm for help for their apprehension at the spot but they managed to escape.

He said a combined Team of Policemen and people of the area managed to arrest Opoku at about 2.30 am to 3.00am the following day. When arrested Opoku told the Police that Kwabena M.B. now at large slapped the deceased.

Mr.Justice Gyinae remanding the suspect said since the case was still under Police investigations, the accused should be able to assist the Police in their examination in order that they could come out with the fact of the matter.

A Bench Warrant has therefore been issued for the arrest of Kwabnea M.B.
