The Hunger Project hands over projects to assembly

Mpraeso (E/R), Aug 02, GNA - The fight to lift more people out of poverty in the Kwahu South District, has received a huge boost with the completion of the 'Epicenter Projects' Atuobikrom by The Hunger Project (THP).

These are made up of a clinic, agricultural advisory centre, an office for a micro credit scheme, social centre and other facilities.

They are part of an initiative to provide access to quality health care and raise agricultural production in the area.

Mr. Joseph Omari, the District Chief Executive (DCE), speaking at a ceremony to formerly hand over the projects to the assembly, saluted THP for its enormous support.

The Project had been involved in the construction of health and education infrastructure in the district and he mentioned Bretukrom and Mframa as some of the communities that had already benefitted from this.

He pledged to closely monitor the operation of the 'Epicenter Projects' to make sure that the people derived optimal benefits.

Mr. Omari announced plans to set up Business Advisory Centres in the deprived communities to assist create jobs and enhance economic activities.

These centres, he said, would help train people in vocational skills - dressmaking, tailoring and hairdressing to improve their living conditions.

He also hinted that extension officers would be deployed to the farming communities to aid farmers, especially the youth into cocoa growing, to increase crop yield and returns
