Melcom Care has began a nationwide blood donation exercise across various section of the country to solicit for blood to support the National Blood Service.

Speaking at the launch, Director of Communications, Melcom Group, Godwin Avenorgbo said the objective of the exercise is to bring to the fore the importance of blood donation as a life saving opportunity.

He added that the exercise is to lead the campaign for achieving efficiency in blood Donation Campaign campaigns for the maximum benefit of the national health delivery system in the country.

According to him, Melcom Care is taking the lead to create a common a platform in all regions of Ghana for the mobilization of blood donors.

He added that 18 designated centres in 9 regions supported by a team from the National Blood Service have been set up mobilize more donors than the previous years.

Mr. Avenorgbo indicated that in 2013 exercise, Melcom Care achieved 435 pints of blood in a day, 639 and 824 pints of blood in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

He calls on Ghanaians to voluntarily donate blood to save lives of victims, pregnant mothers and all others who due to some ailments require blood transfusion.
