Headmaster appeals for prompt payment of fees

Accra, July 28, GNA - Mr Benjamin Odartey Lamptey, the Headmaster of the Duke/Liberty International School at La in Accra, has appealed to parents to honour their children's school fees in time.

He said the delay in the payment of the fees had become a major challenge to the school authorities and affecting the smooth administration of the institution.

Mr Lamptey made the plea in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the graduation of 121 pupils and the Speech and Prize-giving Day of the school at La Wireless in Accra.

They include the 56 junior high school students who wrote this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination.

The 14th graduation was on the theme: 'Education, a Right and not a Privilege.'

As a novelty of the school, the Headmaster's speech was read by a kindergarten '2' pupil, Georgina Nyenaah who did it to the admiration of the audience and applauded her sterling performance with standing ovation.

Mr Lamptey called on Ghanaians to love each other and live in peace as the general election draws near while urging politicians to avoid inflammatory statements.

He said the school's academic performances over the years have been excellent and the pupils were able to gain admission into most of the best senior high schools in the country.

Mr Edward Opoku Manu, the Circuit Supervisor of Adobetor in the La Dade-Kotopon Municipality and the Chairman for the occasion, said the presentation of Nyenaah and the academic performance of the students was an attestation to the dedication of the school authorities.

He therefore expressed gratitude to the teachers for their hard work and urged them not rest on their oars.

The Duke/Liberty International School is being run by Mrs Patience Odoi and her son Mr Sylvanus Odoi.
