Fair Wages Commission calls the bluff of CLOGSAG

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FSWC) says it will not give any interim premium to the members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG).

According to the FWSC, there is no document that suggests that they are entitled to such despite a strike declared on Wednesday, June 27, over the non-payment of their premium.

Last week CLOGSAG executive secretary, Isaac Bampoe-Addo indicated that since their inclusion on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) pay policy they have been disadvantaged by the non-payment of their interim premium.

CLOGSAG gave government up to the end of this month to come up with the four-year arrears of interim premium allowance owed members of the Association or face industrial action.

This followed a meeting between executives of CLOSSAG and the Employment and Labour Relations Ministry, which ended inconclusively.

The executive secretary of CLOSAG, Isaac Bampoe Addo told Joy News without payment the threat of striking is inevitable.

"We have exhausted committees upon committees that have looked into this issue and all have come to the same conclusion that we have not been treated well, we have not been treated fairly," Mr Bampoe said.

But speaking with Joy News the head of Public Affairs at the Commission, Earl Ankrah said it would be unfair for CLOGSAG to continue making this demand.
