Graphic Reporter Apologises

The parliamentary reporter of the Daily Graphic, Mark-Anthony Vinorkor who has been suspended by leadership of parliament for misreporting on proceedings of the House yesterday appeared before the Privileges Committee of Parliament and apologised profusely to the House for his ‘mistake’ that has caused embarrassment to the House.

He appeared before the Privileges Committee chaired by the first deputy speaker together with the managing director of Graphic Communications Group, Ken Ashigbey; Editor of Graphic, Ransford Tetteh and General Manger in charge of newspaper, Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo.

The chairman said the committee is aware of an official apology that had been rendered by the management of the company and that the committee will also like to hear from Mr Vinorkor.

Mr Vinorkor said he was very sorry about the publication that caused embarrassment to the leadership of the House and that it was not deliberate.

He said since reporting from the House is a process, he could possibly make that mistake and wants the House to forgive him for the mistake.

The Managing Director, Ken Ashigbey also apologised on behalf of his reporter and pleaded for leniency.

He promised the committee members that the mistake will never be made again by the company.

The Chairman of the committee, Ebo Barton Oduro said once the contemnor had said he was liable and apologised, the committee will take that into consideration in preparing its report to the plenary.
