Mahama May Not Win 2016 Polls – Prof. Adei

Professor Stephen Adei, former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), says he doubts if Ghanaians would maintain President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 7 general election.

His doubt, he claimed, stems from his (President Mahama's) poor economic management over the years.

The former rector, who said he would be shocked if NDC wins, also wondered whether the government could even complete projects the president had cut sods to begin as part of his 'accounting to the people' tour across the country.

According to Prof. Adei, the Mahama-led government had failed to solve the current economic challenges, especially, the erratic power supply which had affected all sectors of the economy within the last four years. He said he doesn’t see the need for Ghanaians to vote for the NDC in this year's elections.

Prof. Adei made these comments when he was speaking to journalists after the opening of the branch of Dumping Rural Bank Limited in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital. He underscored, “The president is saying his works would get him another term in office but he must not forget that the country is also going through hard times under his regime as president.”

Prof. Adei also indicated that the government had not been fair with its citizens as it had not been telling them the truth about the economy, especially regarding the power sector.

He noted, “The president has taken Ghanaians for granted by deceiving them that there is nothing wrong with power supply, whereas everyone knows that we have a problem to deal with. Does he think Ghanaians are fools?”

The former rector urged Ghanaians to vote for a person who can implement policies that will revamp the collapsed economy.
