NDC Ignore NDC politics of hatred, ethnicity – Atta Akyea urges
JUL 26, 2016 LISTEN

Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South Constituency, Samuel Atta Akyea, has urged Ghanaians to ignore what he describes as ‘politics of hatred and ethnicity’ by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of general elections in December.

According to him, the NDC is telling minority ethnic groups in predominantly Akan speaking areas that New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential aspirant, Nana Akufo-Addo will send them to their hometowns if he wins. According him, the strategy by the governing party is unfortunate.

“I am from Abuakwa South Constituency, the NDC are moving round my villages and telling Krobos that Nana Addo will sack all Krobos in Akyem Abuakwa if he wins.

“Please ignore them; all are lies and politics of hatred. [John} Kufour led the NPP for 8 years, we lived together peacefully, did you hear anywhere that the NPP initiated any move to sack Krobo’s? Atta Akyea told a gathering of NPP supporters in his constituency.

The Abuakwa South Legislature was addressing a dubar at Odumase Krobo in the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region after a health walk organized by the Krobo Youth for Change and the Lower Manya Constituency of the NPP.

“Most of my nephews in Akyem Abuakwa are married to Krobo’s with children. We are now one family and have been leaving together over the years. How can somebody imagine that, Nana Addo will sack his own people, for what ?" Atta Akyea quizeed.

He asked the people of Krobo to support the NPP and Nana Addo in this year’s election for national development.

Mr Atta Akyea told the crowed not to allow themselves to be deceived by monetary gifts aimed at influencing them to retain the NDC government.

He assured the people of Yilo and Manya Krobo that they will get their fair share of the one-district-one-factory policy that has been promised by Nana Akufo-Addo.

“You produce mango in commercial quantities in this area, all we need to do is to support you produce more and established a processing plant for you. You will get the companies to buy your mango and process them without incurring any lost when you plant. If we do that, majority of the people here will get jobs and there will be money in your pocket,”Akyea promised.

Eastern Region organiser of the NPP, Kwame Appiah Kodua, described the NDC government as the most incompetent government this country has had in this Fourth Republic.

He said the NDC has supervised the collapse of most policies and programs introduced by President Kufour and the NPP which has resulted in the challenges at the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the School Feeding Programme (SFP) and other social intervention programmes.
