Business & Finance Govt urged to include SADA in supplementary budget
JUL 24, 2016 LISTEN

Government has been urged to prioritize the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) in its yet-to-be-presented supplementary budget.

Executive Secretary of the Coalition of SADA Zone Civil Society Organizations Bismark Ayorogo Adongo, told JoyNews SADA is unable to help in alleviating poverty in the northern part of Ghana due to lack of funding.

Finance Minister Seth Terkper is expected to present a supplementary budget and a midyear review to Parliament on July 25.

The supplementary budget is expected to request Parliament's approval for government to spend money beyond what was captured in the 2016 budget.

There have been concerns that government has failed to make sufficient budgetary allocation to the SADA since it was hit by a corruption scandal five years ago.

Bismark Ayorogo Adongo believes government can ameliorate this by allocating funds to SADA in the supplementary to enable it ‘function properly.’

He assured that the current board and administration of SADA have foresight and are ready to use funds that will be provided for projects that have been earmarked by the managers.
