Police in the Ashanti Region have rearrested two of the six Abofour police station inmates who escaped on Tuesday.

This follows a ten-day ultimatum given to the Abofour police by the Offinso Divisional Police command to find them or face disciplinary action.

One escaped inmate, Kofi Agyare, 34, who was convicted for stealing was rearrested in a forest area of Kwaw Panyin, which some 16 kilometers away from Abofour.

The Offinso Divisional Police Commander, ACP Oduro Kwarteng confirmed the rearrest of the two prisoners to Joy News' Erastus Asare Donkor.

The unidentified inmate, who is also serving time for stealing, was captured at Adwira Sekyere-Adumase.

Four other inmates who are still on the run are serving time for stealing, wife beating and suspected murder are believed to be hiding in the forest around Abofour and surrounding areas.

The Offinso Divisional Police command issued a ten-day ultimatum to officers on duty at Abofour police station near Offinso to produce six suspects who broke jail at dawn Tuesday.

The cell is a mud house built in the 1950s hence the ease of escape for the suspects after they created a hole through it.

The Offinso Divisional Police Commander, ACP Oduro Kwarteng who confirmed the cell break to Joy News said the inmates used a metal to create a hole through the wall.

ACP Oduro Kwarteng hopes by tomorrow, they would have made a headway in their rearrest and has appealed to the residents to help rearrest the four other inmates who are still on the run.
