CPP Ford Saga: CPP Youth League presents evidence to CHRAJ
JUL 20, 2016 LISTEN

The Youth League of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) says it has presented further and better particulars to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) regarding their petition to investigate the President.

CHRAJ had asked the Youth League to provide evidence in a petition against President Mahama over his acceptance of a Ford Expedition gift from a Burkinabe contractor.

The Youth League had petitioned CHRAJ to have the President investigated for receiving the $100, 000 car gift from the contractor who is said to have benefited from some lucrative contracts from government.

In an interview with Joy News, the CPP Youth League said the evidence has been given to CHRAJ today, Wednesday July 20, 2016.

Secretary of the League, Hardi Yakubu challenged CHRAJ to investigate the matter accordingly.

“What we have presented to CHRAJ is a response to their letter. They asked us to clarify in what capacity we have petitioned and we have done that. They also asked us to provide any further information we may have to help them do the investigation and we have added the information.”

He said an audio version of the investigative piece done by Joy News’ Manasseh Azure Awuni was also made available to the Commission.

For the Youth League, “It is in the interest of all Ghanaians that this matter is brought to a conclusive closure so that we can move on knowing very well that a matter involving the President of the Republic was resolved and we can be able to resolve similar matters in the future,” Hardi Yakubu said.
