The advancement of Information and Communications Technology in Ghana has been taken aback in terms of policy formulation and direction in that regard. This mandate has been at the core of operations of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) since its inception in 2008 under the Ministry of Communications.

NITA aims to identify, promote and develop innovation technologies, standards, guideline and practices to facilitate the advancement of ICT to the benefit of national and local levels of government in Ghana. It has also been at the core of the e-Ghana project which is helping to improve the level of transparency and accountability vis-à-vis government operations.

At the head of this institution, in an acting capacity, has been a specialist with eleven years of working experience in fields such as Data Communications and Networks, Cellular System TV and Radio, Database Development among others. Mr. George Atta-Boateng has been steering affairs at NITA in line with the core mandate as well as directing ICT landscape relative to the Market Structure, Universal Service and Access, Telecommunications Infrastructure, use of ICT in Health, Business, Government and Education.

Thus, it comes as no surprise to us at the Ghana Internet Safety Foundation (GISF), that Mr Atta-Boateng has been confirmed as the Director-General of NITA by the president in consultation the Governing board of NITA and the Public Service Commission.

The Governing Board and Management of Ghana Internet Safety Foundation congratulates Mr George Atta-Boateng on his confirmation and wish him every success as Director General.
