Death Is Simply Inevitable; What's Your Personal Purpose In Life On Earth?

Death Is Simply Inevitable; What's Your Personal Purpose In Life On Earth?

Dedication - To my good friend with a wonderful reasoning, Christian Cobbinah.

Just last week, I had a rare heartwarming experience on my way home after I had visited my auntie in a nearby community. When I rode my bicycle heading towards home, I bought FanYogo and pie from a mobile snack seller (one of the Northerners who sell frozen Fanmilk products and pastries on branded bicycles). I did not want the ice cream to melt while I journeyed home, so I packed my bicycle beside Ketan-Estate road cemetery in Sekondi to snack on my yogurt and pie. That place looks very quiet, fearsome and soul-stirring though. Gosh, I began to stare in sorrow at several graves uphill! And I was compelled to meditate on the sacred fact that I would certainly die one day, challenging me to press ahead with my priceless purpose in life.

Therefore, I seek to question your intelligence regarding death, the most inevitable human experience, and your personal purpose in life on earth. Okay, nobody practically knows when he/she will pass away, but we understand that we will surely give up the ghost one day. It is believed that about 100 billion people have died in all human history. Remember, the dead were once like you and I who are still alive. Hey, the issue of life after death, i.e. Heaven and Hell, will be a subject for discussion another time. However, we ought to reflect on why we exist today as human beings, and to live it to the full before it is too late or we regret it in the grave. Let us not be like mere animals who exist but do not live. Man needs to live and not just exist.

Well, "The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for," Fyodor Dostoyevsky revealed. Besides, have you discovered your own purpose in life; have you realised what you are destined to live for? If your sincere response is nay, then you probably exist and do not live just like an animal. The great Gautama Buddha once declared that, "Your purpose in life is to find your purpose and give your whole heart and soul to it." Believe it; act now! No wonder the late Dr. Myles Munroe opined that, "The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a purpose." Oh my eyes are filled with tears at this point in writing because most contemporary folks are ignorant of these realities.

Moreover, the conventional purpose in life on earth imposed on the average person is "go to school, graduate and work, marry and give birth, acquire properties, retire, and later die." I find this absolutely ridiculous! My spirit in Christ tells me that my own purpose in life on earth is to impact a multitude of souls around the world with my gift of writing to the glory of God. That is why I think and act in unorthodox ways to the dismay of mediocre minds. Lastly, I wish we all contemplated applying Mark Twain's soulful words, "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time." Stay blessed!
