Accra, June 30, GNA - Dr Victor Paintsil, the National Director in-charge of Voice Magazine, the mouthpiece of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI), has called on Ghanaians to ensure peace during this year's general election.

He said without peace all aspects of national life would be distorted and which would affect growth and development.

Dr Paintsil was speaking at this year's Greater Accra Regional FGBMFI Prayer Festival in Accra.

The festival, under the theme: 'Be Fruitful and Multiply through Prayer,'' is aimed at equipping the participants to face challenges, winning more souls for Christ and also praying for peace ahead of election 2016.

Dr Paintsil said in order to consolidate the peace the country had enjoyed over the years; it was incumbent on all stakeholders to exhibit absolute neutrality in the discharge of their duties.

He urged the leaders of political parties to be civil in their campaigns and focus on issues that matter to the voter, adding that it is when they are well informed that they would make good choices.

Dr Paintsil entreated political parties to be decorous in their utterances in order to convince the electorate to vote for them.

Mr Kweku Biney, the Greater Accra National Director for Zone One, said the support base of a political party could only change when the party could convince the electorates to vote for it by offering viable alternatives and not through casting of insinuations and threats of violence.

He urged political parties to educate their supporters to unlearn their attitude of winning power at all cost adding that it was the only way they could come to terms with electoral defeat.

Mr Biney advised the youth to resist the temptation of being used to foment trouble during the election since they would not be spared when caught.
