Vodafone Business Solutions organises workshop on Internet of Things

Accra, June 30, GNA - Telecommunication giant, Vodafone Ghana, has organised a workshop on Internet of Things (IoT) in Accra, to help monitor, control, track and enable new business models through the Vodafone Business Solutions.

The IoT, which exchanges data across existing structures, is to drive machines and human beings to co-exist in a fast growing technological world.

Speaking at the workshop in Accra, the Head of Business Solutions for Vodafone Ghana, Madam Angela Mensah Poku, said, the workshop was to showcase Vodafone's offering in Ghana and to also cement their place and extend the level of Vodafone's deliverables across varied and multiple sectors in Ghana.

'In all we do as a company, our priority has been to ensure that we give our customers - whether individuals or companies - the best possible service. It is not only about providing the best coverage and connectivity, but also about making everything easier, clearer and more reliable for all Vodafone customers,' she added.

Madam Mensah Poku added that the IoT is not only about technology and connecting machines but also about connecting people in everything Vodafone does.

'Vodafone provides the connectivity with the Global Data Service Platform that allows you to monitor all your connections and connect the devices.

'Vodafone has vendors and partners that will be looking at how Vodafone will enable applications and connectivity to drive innovation in Ghana.'

Madam Mensah Poku in an interview expressed the need for Ghana to embrace the IoT from the Vodafone Business Solutions.

'At Vodafone, we see this as a great opportunity to further bring satisfaction and comfort to our customers. Our 'Internet of Things' proposition seeks to serve customers across all sectors, with a focus on the high growth areas of automotive, utilities and consumer electronics,' she said.

'The Vodafone Group has expanded its number of connections to 21.5 million from 16.2 million just a year ago' she emphasised.

The Founder and CEO of Machina Research, a Global Advisor on Machine-to-Machine (M2M), IoT and Big Data, Matt Hatton, said the IoT is evolving globally with about nine billion already connected worldwide.

He said estimates suggest that the number of devices to be connected by 2020 would be 28 billion on the global scale.

He said $1.7 trillion to the global economy by 2019, according to Goldman Sachs.

'The world now is with IoT, very smart with designed principles that encapsulate people, vehicles, homes, towns, cities, commerce and industries.'

The IoT is another internet dimension by Vodafone, a global leader in IoT connections is ready to connect Ghana to the world of technological advancement by connecting people, devices and businesses.
