The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has once again topped the list of political parties in the country that use abusive language in the media.

The latest report by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) is based on monitoring of 972 programmes on 40 radio stations across the country for the period of May 16-31, 2016.

On top of the list of users of abusive language during the reporting period is Hopeson Adoye, a member of the NPP communication team with a total of six indecent expressions.

The report also lists Charles Owusu, a member of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) communication team and the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Joseph Yamin who is former Deputy Minister and now Deputy National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) as sharing the top spot with the NPP communicator.

Speaking to Joy News he said the poll is a deliberate attempt to make him look bad.

"I disagree with MFWA because their indicators if you box them together, it means they have an agenda so I am not surprised," he said.

Mr Adorye also questioned why the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) scored zero in the use of offensive and insulting comments in the report.

He is, therefore, challenging the Foundation to come out with the said offensive comments he is cited to have made.

Mr Adorye said, “my comments were not offensive; if someone is stealing from state coffers and you say the person is a thief is it an insult?”

But the MFWA has denied the allegations insisting the results reflect an objective monitoring process.

The next was Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly called Sir John, former General Secretary of the NPP. Sir John shared the spot with Daasebre Dwamena, a presenter on Kumasi-based Ashh FM.

Also cited is Yaw Adomako Baafi, Deputy Communications Director of the NPP; and Ernest Owusu Bempah, Communications Director of the National Democratic Party (NDP). Each of them were cited for three indecent expressions.
