It was a cool weather with little showers of rain at the Dome market. I was sitting in front of a bank watching closely how people especially women were busily going about their normal activities in the ear-splitting market.

It was interesting the kind of zeal with which our mothers were busily doing their business in the market. The way they yell to call their prospective customers to patronize their goods.

Others, whose businesses were not stationed, had no choice than to roam every nook and cranny of the market to earn something before the sun set. They have to shout on top of their voice to catch the attention of those who needs them. Example sachet water sellers have to shout; yeeeees ice, yeeeesss pure, 3y3 pure among others to get the attention of people who wants to buy. It was actually a competition among them in the market. When one was called, two or more had to run to the customer but only one among them succeed in selling to the customer.

Of course, I saw a lot of evangelists at the Dome market (both men and women) as usual doing the work of God. Whiles some people were not concern about the word of God being preached by the innumerable evangelists in the market, others whiles doing their businesses were listening with rapt attention.

Drivers and mates as usual cannot be left out. Of course, the mates were busy at work shouting as always looking for passengers. “Sowutuom last one, last one, last one", "Pokuase, Mayra, John Teye", "Mayra one, Mayra one, Mayra one", "Amasaman-Nsawam, Amasaman-Nsawam," etcetera. The enthusiasm with which the mates were doing their job, was enough indication to every Tom, Dick, and Harry to enjoy and appreciate what they do.

Another interesting experience I had whilst sitting at the bank and pondering on all the aforementioned things I have cited and trying to find certain meanings to life, three gentlemen walked to me and shouted "Aban" simultaneously.

They were actually dressed in a red attire with the inscription "Malt” with an ice cheers. So I thought they were actually coming to give me one bottle of malt. Lol. One among them quickly added, "a ban, woe de3 ya tete so. Gye baako. Ey3 Gh1.50 p3". So I was shocked at their demeanor. I was flabbergasted at the way they were acting. I then asked them, “Mo de kyeky3 anaa.” Meaning, are you sharing it? And they quickly retorted “NO”. And I laughed.

I didn't fall to their trick or way of marketing. I did the honorable thing by complimenting their efforts and the enthusiasm with which they were working. They were happy for my concern and left.

I started asking myself some questions after having all these experiences; What is the main reason everybody is walking up and down the market? Only one thing came to mind. MONEY.

As you read this script, I know you are planning to go somewhere now or the next morning. I want you to ask yourself the main reason behind where you were actually planning to go. When you ask yourself this question, you will realize that it boils down to MONEY.

Passion, drive, motivation, zeal, call it what you want. It is the self-driven attitude about your job and your work that makes you succeed. It is these passion and zeal that I had noticed in these men and women at the Dome market. It is only through hard work that you can earn income to attend to your necessities.

It is important for every Tom, Dick and Harry to add more passion and love to whatever they do and that is the only way for proper living. When you add enthusiasm to the work you do, you will put much energy into it to ensure that you succeed.
