Accra, June 29, GNA - Dr Bernard Otabil, the outgoing General Manager of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) took the lead on Tuesday to sign a book of condolence opened in memory of the late Mrs Benedicta Esi Barko Kaba, a Reporter of the GNA.

Mrs Kaba, affectionately called Esi by her colleagues, died on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Korle Bu-Teaching Hospital in Accra, after a short illness. She was 35.

In the 'Remarks' column of the book, the General Manager wrote: 'The question of why so soon will continue to occupy our thoughts for some time. But we know the good Lord has something special for you. We are also encouraged that life is not about how long you lived but mostly about how much of an impact you made. Your work as a reporter was well noticed. You have made an input on the lives many. May you rest in perfect peace.

God richly bless and keep you well'
Mr Rex Annan, the GNA's Director of Administration, wrote: 'Ghana News Agency will forever remember you. RIP'.

Mr Mohammed Nurudeen Issahaq, Supervising Chief Editor of the GNA also remarked: 'God knows best. We all loved you but He loves you even more, so He has taken you to eternity. Rest in Perfect Peace'.

Interacting with some of the Agency's staff after the brief signing ceremony, the CEO stated that the death of Mrs Kaba came as a big blow to the Agency, describing her as a hardworking woman who always lived up to her duties.

The book of condolence which is being kept at the Agency's Headquarters in Accra, is open to media practitioners from other press houses, friends and sympathizers.
