JUN 28, 2016 LISTEN

The Kasoa Divisional Police Command in the Central Region has finally apprehended two suspected armed robbers who allegedly shot and killed the operations manager of Ecobank, Seth Akyea.

The suspects are Christopher Afreh aka Indomie aka Shadow, 30 years, and Abdulai Gariba aka Rebel Leader, 33, the man who allegedly pulled the trigger which killed the bank manager.

Their accomplice, Wisdom Adokpo, 19, is currently serving a three-year term in prison for robbery while another, Kojo Joe aka Hitler, is at large.

The two suspects, upon their arrests, told the police that they went there to rob and succeeded in robbing the deceased of an amount of Ȼ400.00.

The deceased, Seth Akyea, was shot dead by a gang of armed robbers on August 20, 2015 at about 9pm in front of the gate to his house.

Until his death, he was the operations manager of Ecobank Ghana Limited, Labone branch.

The Arrests
Speaking to Daily Guide, Chief Superintendent Samuel Kwaku Alordey, Kasoa Divisional Commander, said when police received the news of the incident, the divisional crime officer, DSP Naa Musa, known for his expertise in investigating such cases, was given the case to personally handle.

Several suspected armed robbers were nabbed in connection with the case and Wisdom Adokpo was one of them.

Wisdom was later sentenced to three years in prison for another robbery operation he partook in. He lied to the court that he was a juvenile but has since been transferred to the Nsawam Medium Prisons after the lie was discovered.

While investigations were ongoing, police had a tip-off that his accomplices - Christopher Afreh and Abdulai Gariba - were hiding at Kasoa.

They were arrested by police on June 1 and 23, 2016 respectively at their various hideouts.

Confession
Wisdom, who was contacted at prisons where he is serving his jail term, confessed that he recruited the three others for the operation after knowing them to be notorious criminals.

"On that fateful day, the four of us met and followed his vehicle to his house. When we confronted him, Seth Akyea told his wife who was carrying a baby to enter the house," Wisdom narrated.

The convict said they then marched Seth to his car and asked him to sit on the front passenger seat while they also occupied the driver's and rear seats.

"After collecting the money from him, we asked him to surrender his car keys and other items but Rebel Leader shot the victim in the neck," he continued.

Christopher also corroborated the narration by Wisdom in the presence of Rebel Leader and added that on that day, Rebel Leader was the only person in possession of a gun as the rest of them were armed with knives.
