Education Ministry of Education donates buses to schools

Wa, June 27, GNA - The Ministry of Education has donated seven buses and 10 Mahindra Pick-up vehicles to selected senior high schools, teacher training colleges and district directorates of education in the Upper West Region.

One thousand cartons of chalk and a number of dual-desks were also donated to the schools as part of government's efforts to equip and facilitate the administrative operations and quality teaching and learning in the schools.

Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, the Upper West Regional Minister, said at the handing over ceremony in Wa that the donation formed part of government's policy to resource institutions to ensure that they functioned effectively.

'It is the policy of this government from time to time to resource institutions to make them perform their functions and this is exactly what the government is doing,' he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to ensure that they used the vehicles to serve the purpose for which they were bought.

Madam Patricia Ayiko, the Upper West Regional Director of Education, who received the vehicles on behalf of the schools, thanked the Government for resourcing the schools to make them efficient.

She promised she would take keen interest in monitoring the use of the vehicles and ensure they were maintained to increase their life-span.

Mr Gaeten Bayel, the Chairman of Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools, pledged to take good care of the buses and thanked the Government for providing means of transport to the schools.
