The Police in the Upper West Region are hunting for some youth of the governing National Democratic Congress for setting a party office and the party chairman's vehicle on fire.
The action of the youth followed the appointment of a District Chief Executive for the area.
Basiera Saankara was one of three DCEs appointed by President John Dramani Mahama on Friday.
The youth allegedly set the party office and the chairman’s vehicle on fire when they heard the news.
"Part of the office was burnt and a Mahindra pick up which allegedly belongs to the NDC Chairman of the constituency," Deputy Upper West Regional Police Commander, ACP Dr. Saibu Gariba told Joy News.
He said the timely intervention of the police has restored calm to the area but no arrests have been made so far.
ACP Dr. Saibu Gariba added security has been beefed up at Weychaw in the Wa West District of the region as they hunt for aggrieved NDC youth in the area.
