St. Monica's SHS Launches 70th Anniversary Celebration

Mampong (Ash ) June 25---Most Rev. Prof. Daniel Yinka Sarfo, Archbishop of Internal Province of Ghana &Primate of Church of Province of West Africa has praised the Founding Fathers and Mothers of the Anglican Educational Complex at Asante Mampong for their vision, dedication commitment and sacrifice which has contributed to the training of thousands of Ghanaian educated women working in the various institutions in Ghana and all over the world.

Rev Prof Yinka Sarfo said this during the launch of 70th Anniversary Celebration of St. Monica's Senior High school (SHS) at Asante Mampong last Friday.

He said since 1921 when the Anglican church established the first Basic school at the compound, the Educational Complex now include a Boarding school for girls, primary school. St. Monica's SHS, Nursing & Midwifery Training school, Maternity Hospital, College or Education and Babies' Home.

He praised the late Nana Osei Agyemang Premeh 1, Asantehene and the Mampong Traditional council especially Nana Osei Bonsu I, for providing land for the various projects.

Ms Felicia Osei Manu, the Headmistress of the school said the school which was established in 1946 with some few girls now have students population of 2,092 pursuing various SHS programmes.

She mentioned the school Administration Block and the Great Hall as the major challenge facing the school and appealed to the government, and other stakeholders to assist early completion of the project which are in the various stages of completion.

She congratulated the students for their discipline, the Teaching and non-Teaching staff for their dedication to duty, the Board members and the Parents -Teachers Association (PTA) for their immense contribution to the development of the school and the government for provision of infrastructure.

The theme for the Anniversary is "Fulfilling the vision of the Order of the OHP Sisters". ".The climax of the celebration comes off in February 2017.
