Apam fishermen Hails President Mahama And NDC

Fishermen from Apam and other fishing communities in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region says they will vote for no other person than President John Dramani Mahama in the forthcoming 2016 general elections hailing him for his brilliant performance over the past three and half years.

They contended that President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government deserves to be given the nod for another term of office to better the lots of Ghanaians.

" The NDC government under the able leadership of President John Dramani Mahama has boosted our economic activities as fishermen and fishmongers in Apam and its surrounding communities.

This is the President that deserves our votes. We will vote massively for him and the NDC in the 2016 general elections because we know no other person than H. E John Dramani Mahama"

These were statement made on behalf of the Apam fishing community by the 2013 National Best Fisherman, Mr. Kwame Gyan when Minister for Fishery and Aquaculture Development, Mrs. Sherry Ayittey presented 50 subsidized 40-horse power Outboard Motors to the Apam Fishing community recently.

Mr. Kwame Gyan continued " Apam fishermen would remain grateful to the NDC government. A certain government sometimes ago collected our monies with the view of subsidizing same machines for us to boost our businesses. Our monies never see the light of day.

This kind gesture in which NDC government paid 40% of the cost of Outboard Motors to relief us our burdens has really put monies in our pocket. This is what fishermen expects from caring government"

The Gomoa West DCE, Mr. Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah lauded H. E John Dramani Mahama for the Outboard motors saying it would promote the fishing industry in Apam and its surrounding communities. He noted that pre-mix fuel were in abundant to be used for fishing.

The DCE assured fishermen across the country that the NDC government knows the importance of the fishing industry and will assist them in their activities.

Presenting the machines of behalf of her ministry, Mrs. Sherry Ayittey announced that government would continually support activities of fishermen to enable them produce enough for the country.

She disclosed that more of such machines would be given to them announcing plans by the government to institute insurance scheme for fishermen in the country.

" I like to call on all fishermen to register in their numbers when the time is due for registration to enjoy the insurance scheme that would cater for your old age period.

Plans are also far advanced for government to offer scholarship for children in the fishing communities to enable them attain height in the educational ladder. You should therefore invest in the education of your children to enable them enjoy the facility.

A Landing Beach is soon to be constructed for Mumford to facilitate fishing related economic activities.

Let me end by calling on the people along the coastal communities to vote massively for President Mahama and the NDC in the November general elections"
