JUN 19, 2016 LISTEN

Police in Juapong in the Volta Region have commenced investigations into the case in which a Headmaster of Akpene International School, allegedly swindled final year students, denying them a place in the just ended Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE).

The head of the school is reported to have taken hundred and fifty Ghana cedis each from his students to register   them for the just ended Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), but it later emerged that the index numbers he provided them were fake.

The frustrated students have since called for the arrest of the proprietor, Mr. Malak zubey.

Speaking to Citi News ,  the Crime Officer at Juapong, Supt Seidu Adama, said investigations have begun , adding that their findings will inform their next line of action.

“This man has produced documents that he has paid monies to the West African Examination Council dated 5th February, 2016, and paid Eight Hundred and Seventy Eight Ghana Cedis, eighty pesewas in the name of Akpene International, Juapong. So we have to verify whether this receipt he gave to us is genuine and that this money has actually reached WAEC and find out whether we can press charges against him or whether we will send the docket to Attorney General for advice.”

Over thirty students from Akpene International School would have to wait for another year before completing their basic education as they were not registered and therefore could not participate in the just ended BECE.

But the crime officer has called for calm as they probe the matter further.
